Best Friends
Anne was Kay's best friend. She missed being able to stand on her front porch and see Anne's house. She knew who was home by what lights were on and she could see the reflection from the television when Anne's Dad was watching the evening news. It was reassuring to know that someone was always close by. The old neighborhood was full of kids and families just like hers. The view from the front porch at the new house was cornfields as far as her eyes could see. The backyard led to hundreds of acres of woods. I loved it. It was an owls paradise. Kay missed home.
